What's on your nightstand?

If your idea of heaven is curling up with a good book then let me share with you some of my recent reads.

My bookshelf has been looking quite philosophical of late, gone are the days of a Danielle Steel or Jackie Collins, and quite frankly it's been a while since I read an E. L. James (even Estelle was partial to one of these and she will openly admit that reading is one of her least favourite pastimes).

Nowadays, I'm all about self improvement and development. That's not to say that I don't enjoy a good thriller or murder mystery and in fact my guilty pleasure is an Agatha Christie, Poirot. But, I have found that reading self-improvement books helps to harness a positive mindset and fuel my ambitious nature.

If you're looking for a new read and something to challenge your mind, then check out the following;

  • The Chimp Paradox by Steve Peters - an essential read for anyone who experiences anxiety. This book explains how the brain works and how you can train your brain to give you greater peace and happiness in your life.

  • The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho - a really sweet story about a young shepherd who goes in search of treasure only to realise that it was right in front of him all along.

  • #GIRLBOSS - an inspiring read for female entrepreneurs written by Sophia Amoruso, the founder or clothing brand Nasty Gal.

  • Atomic Habits by James Clear - an amalgamation of helpful tips, incorporating little habits into your lifestyle to improve your life.

  • The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield - a compelling story about the power of now. Definitely a book to reread to really understand the meaning.

I would love to know if you have read any of these and what you thought or if you have any interesting or inspiring book recommendations for me.

Happy reading!
